My Hope Story

Today was Herceptin number 22. I also got to see Dr Mendonca. My white count was 4.6, ANC 2.6 and hemoglobin 12.6 which is perfect!

We’ve made the decision to continue the Herceptin  per protocol which puts me getting my last treatment on May 2. I couldn’t be happier and I’m on cloud nine.

This was the first time since April that I was strong enough to climb up onto this sphere for this photo.

This past weekend I was able to support a new friend battling breast cancer. It was so rewarding to be able to share with her how my faith, family and friends have helped me conquer cancer twice.

On Saturday night, I got to witness one of the most beautiful young girls in Mesa marry her soulmate. I met Michelle many years ago while she was the receptionist at my hair salon. Michelle was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the young age of 20. I stood alongside of her through her battle and tried to be “a hope story” to her and her parents. While most 21 year olds are out celebrating in Vegas and bars Michelle was receiving a different kind of cocktail. She spent countless days in surgery and chemotherapy fighting for her life. Michelle just celebrated her 5 year cancerversary.

Now Michelle is my hope story.
